MARISSA DUARTE

she/her

Marissa is a Tucson native who is passionate about uplifting the women and youth in her community. She grew up in South Tucson and understands the many struggles that our Hispanic community experiences. Prior to her opening Beauty Republic, where she practices holistic skincare, she taught high school culinary arts. It was working with students that sparked an understanding of how impactful providing a safe space for youth can be. She’s currently downsizing her business in preparation of opening a zero waste store, where she can also provide space for truly inclusive community workshops.   She is a new mom to Everest Moon, as well as four dogs, and is married.  She loves spending time with her family, enjoys cooking, and reading. Marissa feels most inspired when she’s spending time with her best group of friends, sharing ideas and enjoying breakfast. 

Favorite Book: Maya Angelou "I know Why The Caged Bird Sings"

Favorite thing to do when feeling in a funk: Dance, I move my body and allow what's stagnant to move through me.

Favorite Food: I love noodles, nothing specific, most cultures have a noodle dish and I enjoy trying all of them. 

Not well known fact about me: I can recite the alphabet backwards (dumb, I know).
